NEUE LONDON UNVEILS AW16 ‘CAMOUFLEURS’ COLLECTION
Neue London’s latest collection for AW16 is based around the idea of floral camouflage. Named Camoufleurs after the artists who designed and implemented military camouflage, designer Alice Tibble has taken an original vintage jacquard and manipulated it to create an abstract, camouflage-like texture as opposed to literal prints.
She has also used this approach to create a unique print combining a ditzy floral with her signature marble textures. The design is very subtle, almost suggested – reflecting the idea that print and the wearer can blend in and so be camouflaged.
In contrast to the dense prints, a large hand painted rose is featured as a motif throughout the range. When placed on the body it becomes disguised and abstracted, in the same way camouflage is used to dazzle.
In contrast to the military inspiration behind the prints, fabrics this season have a luxurious vibe. Silk, silk satins and lace trims add a richness and a subtlety to the collection. The colour palette too is deeper and richer than in past seasons. The silhouette as ever, is easy and wearable with relaxed, gently tailored tops and trousers while the dresses nod to the 1920’s, with silk linings and covered button details.
Signature pieces are still present including Neue’s classic silk shirt, shirt-dress, and woven t-shirt but each with a modern update for the season ahead. Daywear features jersey pieces for the very first time, with jersey T’s and sweatshirts, which are kept luxe and elevated with the use of silk trims.
All the prints are exclusive to Neue and the collection is entirely designed and manufactured in the UK. The collection launches in Autumn 2016 and will be sold online at www.neuelondon.com The collection is also available from Wolf & Badger www.wolfandbadger.com
