MAISON KITSUNÉ SS 17
For its Spring/Summer 2017 Women’s collection, MAISON KITSUNÉ explores the burlesque world of The Party (1968) – the emblematic American film directed by Blake Edwards. Conceived by Gildas Loaëc and Masaya Kuroki, co-founders and creative directors, this whimsical collection is marked by a unique combination of French elegance, 70’s romanticism and a touch of humor.
The silhouettes are light, laid-back and slightly mischievous. In delightful contrast, breezy, flowing fabrics are paired with textured poplins, structured gabardines and quilted cottons. Feminine detailing like smocking, delicate ruffles and diaphanous pleats adorn tops, dresses and Japanese lamé pantsuits, while the use of fluid crepe and satin reflects the playful, carefree sophistication that defines the MAISON KITSUNÉ woman.
Stylish neutrals of navy, black, grey and ecru are invigorated by pops of bright yellow, orange and turquoise, or softened by washes of pastel. Playful prints and naïve embroidery, including elephants and fish, adorn soft knits, Peter Pan-collared shirts, and transparent, PVC accessories. Colourful stripes, bold checks and polka dots play across the collection adding a touch of fantasy and a graphic vibe, while lightweight cashmere is re-energized in citrus hues, taking unconventional form as a modern baseball jacket, a studded button-down skirt and wide-leg work pants.
The latest Women’s collection from MAISON KITSUNÉ is at once effortless and relaxed, energetic and playful, offering the ideal pieces to transition your wardrobe to lighter, warmer weather for Spring/Summer 2017.
