ATER BY SCAR-ID
ATER by scar-id is a line of ideas and objects within scar-id.
Its definition is made through an open block of concepts, where words can be added or removed, according to the complexities and contradictions of those who design it and those who use it. The words must be appropriated, reordered and articulated, creating a narrative able to fulfil each one´s identity.
Sílvia Pinto Costa and Andre Ramos founded scar-id store, in December 2013, leaving “on hold” their usual creative processes, in the fine arts and architecture.
In the last three years their creative process was all directed to the curatorial work and the building process of scar-id´s allure, but now Sílvia and Andre finally found the ideal moment to carry their identity, not only for the concept of the store, but also for one if its principal parts, the product.
The name ´scar-id` first appears in 2011 as a line of leather accessories. So when the idea of designing products was again on the table, they thought it would make all the sense to re-start by the beginning, but with another name. The brand ´scar-id` is today a reference on selling and promoting Portuguese design, national and internationally, leading its founders to the need of some kind of conceptual separation. Therefore, they created a new (sub-)brand: ATER by scar-id.
