HELLY HANSEN CELEBRATES 140 YEARS
Global brand, Helly Hansen, unveils its innovative, new urban collection “140” – its Heritage collection, celebrating 140 years of the brand.
In 1877, Helly Juell Hansen started producing innovative, waterproof clothing for fellow fishermen in Norway. In 2017, the namesake brand celebrates 140 years of outfitting professionals, athletes and enthusiasts alike across the seven seas and on top the highest mountains with a line of exclusive apparel and accessories. The collection calls out the brand’s most ground-breaking developments throughout the years: Helox, Helly Tech®, Propile®, and Lifa®.
Tor Jenssen, Category Managing Director of the Urban collection, comments, “Helly Hansen has been trusted by professionals since 1877, and still innovates, surprises and inspires skiers, sailors, mountaineers and urban consumers across the globe. We’re excited to celebrate these iconic products and innovations in the outdoor industry with new, stylish, throw-back pieces in colours that pay tribute to the retro trends of the 90s.”
The HH Rain Jacket uses Helox+, which is the contemporary take on the linseed oil coated canvas pieces – the first supple waterproof fabrics that inaugurated the start of the Helly Hansen company. In the 60s, Helly Hansen introduced the Propile Fleece, which is recognised as the first fleece jacket made with a synthetic, lightweight and quick-drying material that still delivers exceptional breathability and high insulation. This iconic piece returns in its original cut and navy colourway.
Helly Hansen continued to push boundaries in the 1970s with the creation of Lifa®. The Lifa® Baselayer is based on the warmest, most comfortable and quickest drying fibre available, making this version quite possibly the most efficient and iconic baselayer in the world.
The Helly Tech® Sailing Jacket is today’s version of the first waterproof breathable materials introduced in the early ‘80s to allow high-performance sailors and athletes the ability to keep shells on, even when sweating. The full line of heritage pieces will be available exclusively on www.hellyhansen.com, in Helly Hansen brand stores and select global retailers from September 2017.
