STYLING THE VIGGO BERLIN LIGHT GREY SUIT FROM DEBENHAMS
When it comes to suits, nothing beats the staples, and by staples I mean grey. Grey suits have become more prevalent in street style; their versatility is especially appealing to the modern man. For something clean, understated and classic, a grey suit does the trick. However, grey can also be tricky to perfect. Done right grey reads youthful and modern; done wrong it will leave you looking outdated and frumpy.
A lot of men keep their distance from grey suits simply because they find it to be a tricky colour to wear. Often, they get caught in a web of questions related to carrying off such a suit. Truth be told, grey suits for men are actually pretty easy to style. I started with a floral shirt and tie, coupled with a golden brown chenille knit jumper. I wanted just a hint of the floral collar from the shirt and the shirt and jumper combo to complement the suit, not over power it.
I always go with brown shoes when it come to grey suits, in this case it’s a pair of twin monk strap brown shoes teamed with red and blue socks for a cheeky bit of hidden colour. I also add a pink floral pocket square for a visible splash of colour to tie the whole outfit together.
All said and done, a grey suit isn’t a wardrobe necessity for any man, but it surely is a colour that can make any man look good, when worn properly. Fit to be worn on social occasions and stand out in a crowd. The above styling works for both occasions and should help you figure out what it takes to wear a grey suit confidently and make heads turn your way.
