BAARTMANS AND SIEGEL LC:M PRESENTATION AW16
Wouter Baartmans and Amber Siegel explore all aspects of the American ‘Great Awakening’ era of the 1970’s. The diverse culture of New York at this time is the epicenter of the collection’s inspiration from the raw city environment; the tribes of Harlem and Studio 54.
Inspired by industrial 1970’s New York, Lucy Hardcastle aims to provide an experiential environment- incorporating several different elements into the space, Hardcastle created a series of stark chalky sculptures; smooth yet creased texture, contrasting perfect surfaces with the imperfect, inevitable destruction produced from making room for growth in the metropolis.
