OLIVER SPENCER AW16 SHOW
Music is an inspiration for Oliver Spencer. For the Autumn/Winter 16’ season our journey has taken us from London to Africa, inspired by maverick musician and pioneering drummer, Ginger Baker; a founding member of Cream and drummer for Blind Faith who travelled to Africa where he was immersed into the world of Afrobeat and collaborated with famed African musician, Fela Kuti. When rock rolled with Afrobeat.
The Collection is made up of relaxed tailoring and loungewear remain true to the classic Oliver Spencer silhouette while layering and knitwear give a decisively nostalgic feel to the collection.
Quintessentially British styling and a colour palette of ferrous brown, midnight blue, forest green and London Grey are offset with grounded earthy tones of blood red and ecru.
Prints play a role from checkered patchwork to potato stamp prints and houndstooth. Monochrome hand-drawn stripes to thick ‘schoolboy’ horizontal colour-blocks perfectly showcase the eclectic feel of the journey.
Classic knitwear textures of ribbed roll necks and intricate basket weaves provide an essential element to layering to which Oliver Spencer’s designs are based. Corduroy, velvet, suede and faux astrakhan also feature throughout from suiting to outerwear.
Key pieces include: cerulean blue checkered coat, tobacco patchwork suede Buffalo jacket and suiting stripes.
