GLOVERALL 1951 SS16 ‘OFF DUTY’
WARDROBE FOR THE CASUAL CONNOISSEUR
Following its launch in Autumn Winter ’15, Gloverall’s premium lifestyle collection 1951 unveils its first summer wardrobe for SS15.
Gloverall 1951’s Off Duty collection takes its lead from the effortlessly chic casual clothing espoused by movie stars and sports personalities in an era before celebrity stylists. Whether cruising the Amalfi coast in an open-top Alfa Romeo or circumnavigating Hollywood on the back of a Bonneville, these personalities helped define the modern rules of dressing down and looking sharp while off duty.
Gloverall 1951’s contemporary reworking of this clean-lined vision of relaxed casualwear delivers a simple-to-layer selection of modern wardrobe essentials. Designed to square-up confidently to the odd summer shower, the outerwear collection is led by a lightweight mid- length duffle coat for men and women which has been created using a washed and proofed cotton. Available in a sunshine palette of navy, khaki, orange, pink, yellow and green the duffle shares rail-space with a hooded women’s cape and a reefer jacket for men featuring a detachable hood.
Super-lightweight technical fabrics come to the fore for Spring Summer ’16. A washed resin-coated cotton in navy, red and army green is used for a number of key jacket styles including a sports-inspired coach jacket and café racer-inspired blouson for men and an oversized parka for women. Additional outerwear highlights include a featherweight Harrington jacket and a longer lined car coat both in hardwearing and showerproof ripstop nylon.
Available in washed Oxford cotton, gingham and chambray, the season’s shirt collection features Gloverall’s grosgrain stripe detailing. Elsewhere, the knitwear range includes Gloverall’s signature pique polo shirt in navy, red, white and grey marl. Additional highlights find a classic crew-neck sweatshirt appearing alongside a hooded sweat in navy blue or vintage grey marl.
