KOMONO SUNGLASSES SS16
LOST IN TRADITION, FOUND IN TRANSLATION
Linear collides with curves and chaos gives way to calm here. The canyons of glass, steel and concrete hide coves of quiet and calm. There is so much complexity to this place and yet it’s so simple. It’s so capable. Every square foot is designed for efficiency and effectiveness. How can a place exist as a testament to tradition and progression simultaneously? And yet… Tokyo does. It is five hundred years of the past projected onto the city of the future.
This season, KOMONO is viewing things through the lens of Tokyo. The perpetual buzz and flurry of progression, tradition, simplicity and complexity. The architecture, style and culture that have come as a result. This speaks to them. This is their language. This harmonious enigma.
THE PRINT SERIES: Beauty is on the inside. No, really. It’s literally inside these sunglasses. Within the frame of the Print Series you’ll find bold, colorful patterns filling each individual pair to the tip with highly detailed aesthetic nuances. New for this season, KOMONO recruited Mother Nature’s design sensibilities with the addition of the Fern and Palm motifs. Nothing against human designers, but they think Mother Nature’s patterns work pretty well.
THE METAL SERIES: The Metal series exists as a balanced application of tactile opposites. An interplay of brushed metal and rubber coating create a classic KOMONO aesthetic that blurs boundaries, yet sets a new standard. This season they are offering a translucent cobalt and an array of Blue, Black and Red in subtle matte finishes. Punctuating the series is a sophisticated Rose Gold/Tortoise option.
FRANCIS: The Francis is a new addition to the KOMONO optic family. The rounded frame and narrow profile give the Francis a lighter, airier appearance. Available in an array of hues and prints, this slender-templed masterpiece is the perfect harmony of svelteness and vibrancy.
