ACE & TATE X IT’S NICE THAT
This summer sees Amsterdam-based eyewear brand Ace & Tate launch a collaboration with their friends at It’s Nice That, a London-based creative platform. Together they’ve designed a limited edition package consisting of a unisex and contemporary sunglasses design, accompanied by two specially commissioned poster prints and lens cloths by artists Howard Fonda and Louisa Gagliardi
The idea to create a product-based collaboration developed after respective founders Will Hudson (It’s Nice That) and Mark de Lange (Ace & Tate) worked together on the board of the Ace & Tate Creative Fund.
Once the decision on the sunglasses design and exclusive colourway was made, It’s Nice That then commissioned two artists to create limited edition prints for the cleaning cloths and litho printed posters.
Howard Fonda, a painter from Portland is know for using bold colours with a feeling of freedom and fun. Louisa Gagliardi focuses on digital illustrations that draw a sense of warped three-dimensionality. For this project, Fonda’s vibrant artwork and Gagliardi’s atmospheric illustration powerfully combine in reflecting the changing mood of the seasons.
The campaign was visualised by London-based photographer and director Ryan Hopkinson, known for his crisp aesthetic, together with conceptual art director and designer Andrew Stellitano. They created a series of four images evoking a stylised pareidolia around the sunglasses and custom cleaning cloths.
Package includes; one pair of limited edition sunglasses, two litho printed posters, two cleaning cloths featuring the artists’s print designs — €148 / £135
