URI MINKOFF SS17 MEN’S PRESENTATION

INSPIRATION:Time has become a blur. I am inspired by the idea of slowing it down and isolating key moments. The collection palette and theme is informed by a trip to Lake Como, Italy—an afternoon spent in the present with friends and family, watching the water and the beautiful sunset. I gave particular focus to the subtle architectural details of the collection; a celebration of what makes each of us unique.

The performance, in collaboration with artists Gerard & Kelly, uses a movement score based on the idea of a clock to muse on the slowing of time with a focus on memory. Twelve dancers, twelve clocks, and twelve rhythms fall in and out of sync, while Steve Reich’s Pendulum Music (1968) keeps time in sound and sculpture. The dancers explore ideas of trust, community and support.
