Classic yet contemporary, trimmed of unnecessary adornment and confidently constructed – for autumn/winter 2016 Whistles menswear modernizes workwear favorites with luxurious finishing touches.

Inspiration comes from French New Wave cinema, specifically, the ultra-cool styling of lean Paul Belmondo in the cinematic masterpieces of Jean Luc Goddard.

A sense of purpose and movement is inherent throughout thanks to a relaxed retro mood. The silhouette remains slim but is slackened slightly – loosened-up trouser shapes, roomy overcoats and relaxed shirting add depth to signature clean line and elegant tailoring. Turn-up jeans and chinos add a further retro touch and customizable cool.

Premium fabrications create a feeling of everyday luxury, and authenticity unlocks strips, plaids, worsted wool and herringbone weaves. A playful experiment with scale leads to micro-weaves contrasted with expanded checks, while the Gallic charms of Breton stripe are impossible to resist. A muted palette of indigo, sand and steely shades of grey creates the building blocks of everyday easy-going style.
