BEDOUIN SS17: THE URBAN NOMAD
This season sees designer Andraya Farrag draw inspiration from Moroccan and nomadic Berbers, with a contemporary minimalist twist for the BEDOUIN SS17 collection.
The collection uses an array of rich fabrics including jacquards inspired by Berber rugs and delicate silks with a subtle metallic sheen, adding luxurious touches to the easy to wear designs. Unique textures with geometric details, hand woven ribbon and asymmetric cut dresses and skirts all make subtle yet impactful details. These distinctive finishes flow throughout the collection, threading together the story of the BEDOUIN woman. Each piece is created with the world-traveller in mind and can be easily transformed from effortless looks by day, to statement pieces by night. Whether paired with an elegant pair of heels, or trainers with a street style edge, each piece is versatile and understatedly wearable.
The Urban Nomad range transports the BEDOUIN woman to Marrakesh, with pieces named ROCK THE KASBAH and DESERT DWELLER inspired by the rich Moroccan landscape, and are evocative of the brand’s signature playful spontaneity which is injected into each piece. Using a diverse colour palette including delicate peach, light steel blue, crisp white and vibrant orange provides added depth and warmth to the range. The collection presents a world of exciting juxtapositions, from sheer feminine fabrics with structured delicate draping with vertical stripes and soft ruffles made from embellished jacquard. This is showcased perfectly in the punk-inspired lettering on the 90s silhouette NOT A DENIM JACKET, which creates a refreshingly feminine look with a cool edge.
From day to night, city to beachside, each piece in BEDOUIN collection allows the wearer to effortlessly transition to any occasion, exuding confidence and a free spirit.
