LOOK MATE UNVEIL TWO NEW DESIGN COLLABORATIONS AT LFW:M
This January, leading London sock label Look Mate dip their toe into London Fashion Week Men’s for the first time. Taking place between 6th-9th January 2017 Look Mate will be unveiling two exciting new design collaborations by visual artist Murnau Den Linden and graphic artist Pedro Veneziano to mark their debut at this most prestigious event in the fashion calendar.
“Latin and Hispanic worlds are like a punch in the nose. It suddenly gets your attention. It startles you” says Murnau Den Linden, who draws inspiration from those evocative regions for his vibrant ‘La Isla Bonita’ socks, which are a kaleidoscope of wonderful, psychedelic vibes.
London based Den Linden’s designs celebrate Southern hemisphere traditions and myths, and at the same time look ahead to the 21st Century. His colourful artworks, often set in a dance with deep darkness sensations, are accented with and underlying sense of mythology and modernity.
Veneziano is a talented young Brazilian graphic designer and illustrator. He studied at both Unesp and Parsons in New York and through his work he aims to create a singular language that flows through different medias and to explore unexpected directions in graphic design. He switches constantly between bidimensional and tridimensional visual expressions and loves creating artworks to inspire others.
His original sock design, named ‘Primordial’ is a graphic expression of nature in its pure form declaring the socks are “Inspired by the simple things in nature, and the way their singularities can be evoked with the most basic shapes.”
Priced £10, every pair of socks is produced to high standards of craftsmanship from combed cotton by a father-daughter team in Vahan’s hometown in Armenia. The socks are tested time and time again until perfection is reached
