Universal Works SS17
To showcase their SS17 collection, Universal Works have collaborated with Nottingham based artist Allan Buxton to create a film representing the collection’s themes of revolution, colour and movement.
The resulting stop-motion film captures Universal Works’ exploration of mid-century Cuba, revolution, the influence of the anti-establishment Beat movement in the USA, and the graphic design work of Saul Bass. All of which have inspired their new spring summer 17 collection.
Allan Buxton and Universal Works have been working together over three years, producing five different films that continually mix fashion
with stop motion animation and toe the line between low-fi methods and contemporary aesthetics. Walking into Allan’s studio is like stepping on set of ‘Scrapheap Challenge’ so you can always expect crazy props and fishing line special effects.
