VERENA SCHEPPERHEYN SS18
Sometimes a melody gets stuck in your head and creates a certain mood. That was the case with the synthpop tune ‚Everything nice‘, covered by Jaako Eino Kalevi and Farao. Inspired and enhanced, Spring/ Summer 18 represents that mood within the collection by having a playful approach to the design.
Another major reference has been the work of Navid Nuur , who uses a range of media, including drawing, text and installation, visualising the principles of reality in a playfully easy , sometimes ironic way . Especially his works with text were most influential for this collection.
Inspired by this approach, the textiles and prints of Spring/Summer 18 were created; A lively composition of favourable german words was built by collaging printed and handwritten letters as well as graphical elements. This design was used both as digital and silkscreen placement print, intending to create a graphical world that draws a playful, slightly ironic and bold mood.
The printed words can be also found woven into ribbons, which w ere used as closure and piping details throughout the collection. Padded 3-D pockets coupled with drawstring elements at the body and sleeves reinterpret the male silhouette
The sharp colour palette of black, red, burgundy , navy, olive and white is accompanied by an interplay of technical shiny fabrics and natural matt linen.
The collection presents a number of oversized styles, merging tailoring, work- and streetwear . For the first time Verena includes accessories to the collection range by adding a Backpack and sock design. Both representing the core elements of the collection.
