FURLA SPRING/SUMMER 2018
Furla presents its Spring/Summer 2018 collection at the historical building Palazzo Cusani, Milan. Design is key, showcasing different ways that people see themselves, and their individuality. Design for humans, in the words of Modernist Austrian architect and designer Richard Neutra. The constant dialogue between fashion and design in the spring / summer 2018 collection by Furla, showcases the richness of Italian tradition – with fabrics made with ancient Italian techniques, woven on vintage shuttle looms – sit alongside the customised edit of styles, where individuality becomes the main reference point.
The Furla Fenice, introduces a contemporary tote with a top handle, designed for dynamic women with a chic, cool touch. The Furla Ducale, cheerfully plays with scalloped stitching and a lock with an engraved logo. Furla Nuvola, a new incarnation of the classic Metropolis style. All three designs are repeated in 52 different variations with one common inspiration: the colours of nature. There are 52 variations to accompany women’s lives throughout the year.
The exclusive designs of Furla – Lavender, Strawberry, Jasmine, Poppy, Woodpecker, Leopard, Flamingo, Zebra, Gardenia, Hibiscus, Toucan, Turtle, Pineapple, Butterfly, Carnation, Kimono, Liberty, Lurex Drops – were crafted on brocades and jacquard, in 52 variations.
Two new models include: the Furla Bouganville slipper and the Furla Rialto sandal, developed in all variants of jacquard fabrics with grosgrain onyx and grosgrain silver laminated ribbon (for slippers) and onyx micro petal bottom (for the sandal).
Palazzo Cusani, in Brera’s neighborhood is a gem of Italian Neoclassical architecture – among the many designers who worked on the Palazzo throughout the ages, an essential contribution was given by Giuseppe Piermarini (1734-1808), the architect who designed Teatro alla Scala. Furla is proud to introduce the SS18 collection at Palazzo Cusani: a presentation, and a journey through time. And throughout the different stages of their lives.
The collection represents a journey from childhood to maturity. A presentation designed in wavy, curvilinear settings, like a woman’s body; a presentation inspired by the purity of beauty. A celebration of women’s sensibility, but also of their pragmatism, of their character. A journey through the different ages of their lives: the childhood games, the sense of joy and abandonment of children rides. The dreams of adolescence, the discovery of love in the teenage years; time shifts, from linear to nonlinear, because the journey is more important than the destination. In time weeks will go by, then years: it is the seasons of life. Time becomes circular: the harmony of circularity. No edges. With sweetness, and with imagination’s absolute freedom.
