A WEEK WITH THE GARMIN VIVOSPORT

Having used the Apple watch for a year and a half I’ve spent most of that time frustrated at the battery life, constant notifications and having to use my phone in tandem with it for any setting or software updates. I was on the hunt for something else, cue Vivosport.

My biggest annoyance with the Apple watch is its battery life; I only wear it for the gym and when I go running and yet it never lasts more than two day’s maximum. So with its 7 day’s of battery life the Vivosport already ticked that box with me.

This formed the base level for my test, if it could last 7 days then I was in! I therefore put it on charge Sunday night and put it on my wrist on Monday morning and there it stayed until the following Sunday (see image).

Set-up was super easy; I downloaded the Garmin connect app, connected my Vivosport and it was that simple. Using the Vivosport is simple; it’s got a swipe up or down system and a single tap gives you more information. I mainly use my Vivosport to connect to my phone to control my music at the gym, track my fitness and to track my runs.

It is excellent at tracking fitness as its jam packed with activity tracking features like Step counter, Calories burned, Floors climbed to name a few. The Auto goal is fantastic at learning your activity level and assigns a daily step goal, this is perfect for fitness lovers.

Going for a run with the Vivosport is a treat. Selecting outdoors will enable a search for GPS and you will get your pace/distance on screen. Typically, I found that for GPS it took less than 15-20 seconds if it’s synced with your phone. Once done you can go ahead and double-tap to start the activity. You can further view your run on the Garmin connect app to give you further info on speed, distance, calories burnt and even gives you a cheeky little map of your route.

The Garmin Vivosport is packed full of features and I am sure I have only scratched the surface of but I am a big fan so far and will not be going back to my Apple watch anytime soon. If I have learnt anything from my week with the Garmin Vivosport is that my stress levels are continually high, so I don’t know about you but I will be doing my best to relax from now on.
