TRIWA #TIME FOR OCEANS
Over 150 Million tons of plastic pollute and circulate our oceans. This has a deep and irreversible impact on Marine Life. TRIWA have set out to make a watch with this waste. It’s TIME FOR us to think about our OCEANS.
#TIMEFOROCEANS: Both the case and strap are made from 100% Ocean Plastic produced by Tide Ocean Material in Switzerland. The ocean waste is transformed into granular material using solar energy which is then moulded into the four key styles of watch. All kinds of plastic are used and not just PET bottles, with the watch being water resistant to 10 ATM.
- Over 300 million tons of plastic are produced every year.
- At least 8 million tons of plastic end up in our oceans every year and make up 80% of all marine debris from
surface waters to deep-sea sediments. - The plastic debris causes the deaths of more than one million seabirds and over a 100,000 marine mammals
every year.
Our industry is very conservative, with traditional values such as status and style. With our Time for Change watches we want to use the symbolic placement of the watch and make it into a statement piece for change. By making watch- es from 100% ocean plastic we can show that it’s possible to do something more useful with the ocean waste and also with the help of our customers raise awareness for the need to change says Ludvig Scheja, Creative Director at TRIWA.
Tide Ocean Material is a Swiss company that turns the plastic polluting our oceans and coastlines into safe, useful products such as textiles, apparel, furniture, watches and more.
