ESSĒN The Label, the luxury footwear label, believes that shoes are the foundation of a well-curated wardrobe and the basis of a great outfit. Inspired by the founder’s Dutch & Australian roots, ESSĒN aspires to simplify people’s wardrobes, by encouraging them to buy less & choose better.

The season comes the launch of the latest style, adding one more style to the sustainable brand’s edited collection; The Simple Sandal. After 4 years of development across 3 countries in 4 different factories and with the help of expert artisans, ESSĒN was finally able to create this simple and versatile sandal, staying true to their ethical beliefs and eco-friendly approach to producing shoes.

“The simplest shapes are often the most difficult to get right. When I set out to make this style, I was determined to craft it the slow way, but I didn’t anticipate it would take nearly four years! The workshop is based in Le Marche, a historical region best known for Italian shoemaking and considered the world’s oldest and best shoe manufacturing district since 1901. Here I work with an alliance of skilled artisan shoemakers whose skills have been passed on generation after generation. It’s a solid base of family-run factories and local craftsmen. Artfully simplistic & universally flattering, this sandal is a combination of minimal design with maximum impact. The memory foam padded footbed delivers all-day comfort, while the delicate leather straps are strategically positioned to elongate your legs and engineered to keep your foot right where it’s supposed to be. The leather rand is individually twisted by hand and elastic has been added to the inside and the back of the sandal for an improved fit and extra comfort.

ESSĒN The Label was born as a response to the fast-fashion industry and poorly constructed product that was currently available. The brand quickly learnt that to produce beautiful shoes, with low environmental impact, they need to move away from traditional seasons and the industry standard. Therefore all ESSĒN shoes are produced in small batches in neutral and timeless colour palettes, often via pre-order to minimise waste and overproduction.
