SCOTCH & SODA SPRING 2021 MEN
For Spring 2021, Scotch & Soda brings a bold attitude to everyday dressing inspired by an original Nordic folktale.
Celebrating the power of self-expression, the collection connects classic with eclectic to establish a unique contemporary dress code that reflects the free-thinking spirit of the Scotch man.
This new aesthetic sees classics – the core of every collection – elevated in rich fabrics and with subtly extravagant details. An oversized zip-neck jumper is knitted from a wool-cotton blend in a structured rib effect, while a pullover comes in a neon alpaca blend. Transitional jackets come to the fore in luxe iterations: a hybrid bomber-trucker jacket is crafted from green leather with contrasting oversized patch pockets and stud fastenings; a trucker jacket is emblazoned with a striking graphic print. In an understated palette of sand, blue and ice white – energised with pops of lime, tobacco and pink – they offer refined, practical wardrobe solutions.
A sense of ease runs through the relaxed silhouettes and twists on timeless prints. From the checked flannel overshirt, to pinstriped hoody and matching trackpants, these versatile layering essentials are designed for mixing and matching.
Denim is a through-line every season, the pinnacle of which is the premium capsule, Lot 22. Standout seasonal styles include The Norm, woven from black Italian selvedge sourced from the Candiani mill, which comes with a matching trucker jacket; and a new super-wide tapered fit in a raw lyocell blend, their colours drawn from crystals that pay homage to the Blue Mountain of the folktale.
Denim remains a focus for responsible design for spring: over half the seasonal range contains responsible fabrics or washes, including the signature Ralston, which is reimagined in a crisp blue that’s made from 80% recycled cotton and 8% recycled polyester. All labels, zip tapes, cords and stitching are made with recycled polyester, while the majority of back patches use recycled leather.
Uniform dressing is key, influenced by military outfits in the story. This newtility look is rooted in workwear executed in shades of khaki, such as a cotton chore jacket, pleated wool-blend trousers accessorised with technical cord belts, and a neat workwear suit in ultra-fine midnight corduroy – clean tailored pieces instilled with an easy elegance. Military detailing also appears in the form of quilting, which is used as lining in an army-green parka, but can be removed and worn as a lightweight jacket.
By effortlessly connecting the unexpected, Spring 21 offers a unique perspective on modern daywear that’s grounded in authentic, playfully detailed designs.
