PALLADIUM RELAUNCHES PALLABROUSSE, ITS FIRST EVER BOOT, FOR SS21
Returning in SS21 to the boot where it all started, Palladium introduces its most meticulously crafted replica of its first ever style, PALLABROUSSE. Designed specifically for the arid and unforgiving terrains tackled by the French Foreign Legion, upon its launch in 1947 the PALLABROUSSE redefined what it meant to be a function-first utility boot. And in doing so, it changed the footwear market forever.
The new SS21 PALLABROUSSE style, named PALLABROUSSE LEGION, is the closest facsimile to Palladium’s original boot to date. One of the most iconic footwear styles of all time, the PALLABROUSSE ushered in a silhouette which has survived decades of shifting trends and evolving cultural movements.
Conceived for the military, embraced by explorers, geologists and trekkers before providing the blueprint in the 1960’s for Palladium’s now iconic fashion/lifestyle boot the Pampa, Palladium’s PALLABROUSSE is the boot which lit the fuse on the Palladium story. From the original multi-terrain lugged sole unit and side-straps for enhanced structure and support, to the dustproof gusset on the tongue and quick-dry canvas upper featuring rubber patches (initially introduced not as a branding device but for ankle protection), this revived iteration of the PALLABROUSSE is updated using contemporary fabrications and modern manufacturing techniques to bring the historical anchor style into the 21st century.
Inspired by the brand’s military heritage as the original outfitter to the French Foreign Legion, the new PALLABROUSSE LEGION reworks the classic style in an 8oz waxed canvas to deliver durability for today’s explorer. More importantly, the return of the PALLABROUSSE underlines how Palladium was first to market with a boot which continues to inspire footwear brands globally.
The hi-top top style features an organic CVS canvas upper and a dual rubber sole with matching rubber toe cap. Inspired by the classic PAMPA HI, the new LEGION iteration of the PALLABROUSSE also features a new canvas branch stitched across the outer upper and contrasting matte binding. The moulded rubber tread incorporates spaced lugs that form even ‘bridges’ to distribute weight for maximum comfort in the most uneven of terrains alongside two wider bars that prevent arch collapse while delivering additional support. The structure of the boot helps eliminate the causes of foot fatigue to make long walks and extensive periods of standing easier anatomically.
The new PALLABROUSSE LEGION is available in a tonal colour palette referencing the brand’s military heritage, each shade a different representation of terrain inspired by the environments the original legionnaires traversed.
