Umbro launches Classic Drill collection as part of its Madchester series celebrating the brand’s hometown

For SS21, Umbro continues its celebration of the global impact of a single city, Manchester. Umbro releases its Classic Drill collection in recognition of a family of styles which became go-to wardrobe essentials for Manchester’s style cognoscenti. Underlining the collection’s Britpop credentials in 1996, the Classic Drill Top was even sported on-stage at Maine Road by Liam Gallagher.

Umbro reaffirms its roots as uniform to 1990’s Manchester Casuals with the release of its Classic Drill collection. Affirmed as must-have clobber 25 years ago when Oasis performed to its home crowd at Manchester City FC’s Maine Road football ground, Umbro’s drill styles have gone on to become much sought-after symbols of sports/fashion crossover.

The five style Classic Drill capsule collection comprises a crew-neck Drill Sweat Top, a collared V-placket Drill Top, a raglan-sleeved hooded Drill Sweat Hood, tapered fit Drill Pants, and Drill Shorts. Each style is available in two colour options, dark navy and sky blue, with each style featuring a diversity of details including embroidered or plasticol logos, gathered elasticated waistbands and hems, plus contrast panels on some styles.
